Keta-Denu Onion Cluster Commencing

A stakeholder engagement took place at Keta in the Volta region to engage the onion value chain in the Keta-Denu-Anloga enclave with the aim of identifying gaps and collaborating to resolve them. . The engagement sought to scope for entry points into commencing cluster activities in that region. This brought to bear a better understanding of current and prevailing bottlenecks for these farmers in the region. This will help HortiFresh to direct support and create a more vibrant onion production cluster in Keta.  The meeting developed action points usable for the commencement of project activities. Focus group discussions were organised with value chain actors numbering over 70  to discuss issues around storage, finance, market, extension services, HortiFresh’s Agronomy training and pests and diseases.

Onion fields within these communities were also visited for a first hand information for the project.
