Health Food Show to star on TV3 every Sunday
‘The GhanaVeg Food Diaries’ a TV Cook Show has been launched at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel on Wednesday January 25, by the Netherlands Ambassador to Ghana Mr. Ron Strikker The exciting 13-series cook show has been carefully designed to increase the awareness on the health benefits of vegetables and delicious ways of preparing them. The show also provides background information on the vegetable sector in Ghana with topics like greenhouses, nutrition and sports. The first episode of the show airs on TV3 on Sunday February 12, at 6:00 pm with subsequent episodes airing every Sunday at the same time and channel for 13 weeks.
The cook show provides an avenue for thought-provoking discussions on a variety of topics related to the vegetable sector in Ghana including imports, organic production, greenhouse cultivation, and health and nutrition. .The show also sheds light on the first national certification scheme ‘Ghana Green Label’. A scheme that guarantees the safety and quality of vegetables produced in Ghana. The GhanaVeg Food Diaries bring on board experts, businessmen and women and government advisors across the vegetable value chain. The anchor of the show is the world-renown chef Selassie Atadika of ‘Midunu’ who herself has a wealth of knowledge on local vegetables.
Speaking at the launch, the Netherlands Ambassador to Ghana, Mr. Ron Strikker, emphasized how excited he is to have such a show on TV. “A show that focuses on vegetables to boost Ghanaians’ confidence in homegrown vegetables. Mr. Strikker added: “I expect that the close collaboration between GhanaVeg and prominent Ghanaian businessmen and policymakers will not only give a boost to local production of vegetables but will also help Ghanaians in leading a healthy lifestyle”. He encouraged Ghanaians to shift experiment with new vegetables and add a bit of vegetables to every meal they consume to live longer and healthier.
