A 2 week intensive capacity strengthening session took place at the Kwadaso Agriculture College with 26 Agriculture Extension Agents and 28 Tutors of Agric Colleges and Farm Institutes. The program was designed to introduce participants to hands on practical agronomy and adult learning skills with which they will be required to train others.
The training is to enhance the knowledge of participants with the aim of transferring it to students in the various Colleges and Farm Institutes they lecture in as well as farmers within specified communities on preferred production practices.
Topics discussed during the training included nursery management, transplanting, fertilizer selection & application, crop protection and adult learning. In addition, participants took part in field work on the identification of certain diseases in Pepper, tomato, okro, cabbage and lettuce. They have further been assigned to establish demo fields for their continuous practice. Participants for the first session of the training came from Ohawu, Kwadaso, Damango, Ejura, Wenchi, Adidome and Asuansi Colleges and Institutes.
