Fruit Processing Opportunity in Cote D’ivoire
West Africa’s leading producer of fruit and vegetables over the past 20 years, Côte d’Ivoire, has been losing an average of 15% of its production per year due to the lack of local processing units.
According to the results of a study by the Center for the Promotion of Investments in Côte d’Ivoire (CEPICI), the country processes only 1% of its fruit production.
However, the evolution of diets, urbanization and the rise of the middle class are “assets” to increase the consumption of “processed fresh products”.
The strategic position and the long tradition of fruit exporter make Côte d’Ivoire a natural hub for companies from the sister country GHANA with companies such as HPW Fresh & Dry, Blue Sky, etc.
Such an initiative by one of the companies wishing to produce processed products such as juices, canned goods, dried and frozen products for the regional and global markets will get the support of the Hortifresh project which has just started its activities in Ivory Coast.
