8TH PRE-HARVEST AGRIBUSINESS EXHIBITION
HortiFresh participated in 8th Pre-harvest Agribusiness exhibition in Tamale from October 3- 5 at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium. The theme for the event was “Transforming Agribusiness in the Northern Ghana; The Future is Now”
Hortifresh reached out to participants to sensitize them about Hortifresh and explored opportunities in the Northern region.
Speaking at the event, the Netherlands Ambassador to Ghana H.E Mr. Ron Strikker said “The Northern Region could become the breadbasket for Ghana as it has huge potential’’. For him, the starting point should be from producers seeing farming as a profitable venture rather than the way it is today.
He expressed the need to ensure a vibrant functional Agriculture value chain actors who are willing to adhere to standards, embark on modernised and technological means of production to improve on their yields and increase their incomes.
Addressing about 144 exhibitors and other stakeholders present, the Vice –President’s representative, the Minister of State at the Presidency in charge of Food and Agriculture, Dr. Nurah Gyiele in his remarks expressed government’s commitment to support Agriculture and make it sustainable. He called on the private sector to take advantage of the government’s initiatives to establish agro processing factories in rural areas of the country to add value to farm produce for export. About
