We close the year successfully with 30 GhanaVeg supported projects working within the vegetable value chain. One of these projects is VoltaVeg. This edition highlights activities that the project will implement under the support of GhanaVeg.
We bring you warm greetings from VoltaVeg!
VoltaVeg is a Ghanaian owned company which is into the production and sell of fruits and vegetables for the domestic and export markets. Under the support of GhanaVeg, VoltaVeg will diversify production base from traditional vegetables by cultivating exotic and high–end vegetables like okra, winter Squash, French Beans and fresh Bambara beans with high export potential.
The project will improve product quality and export value by obtaining the Global GAP certification. In preparation for certification, the project will build two packhouses to facilitate post-harvest handling. These pack houses will be located at Eastern Region and Volta Region specifically Govinakrom in the Ayensuano District and Krachi district respectively.
The project will also do the following;
• To improve product quality by introducing new, affordable and user-friendly modernised agricultural technologies for testing sunlight, soil fertility, soil moisture and soil pH levels to farmers and training of these farmers to adequately handle and use these technologies.
• To increase productivity of vegetable farmers through training in good agricultural practices and the use of irrigation.
• To increase export market share and attract more buyers through proper branding and marketing of produce as an important aspect to sustain income. For further information kindly email [email protected].
