Greetings from Srighan Farms!
The vegetable sector, over the years, has experienced some challenges with False Codling Moth (FCM), a pest infection that destroys the production of chillies.
Srighan farms as a beneficiary of our grants, envisaged an activity to control FCM. The project will establish the efficacy of the new products for control of FCM in on-farm field trials, train farmers and multiplication agents in the use of the new products and overall Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs), apply for and receive registration of the new products for use in Ghana with EPA, upscale the initial trial to a larger number of farmers to confirm the economic viability and train 1400 outgrowers in GAPs using the new biopesticide products and re-establish the export of chilli peppers from Srighan Farm and its outgrowers and avoid further losses of income.
So far, the first group of farmers comprising twenty seven farmers and three extension officers have been trained in Begoro. Theses farmers have had extensive training on how to handle FCM and ways to prevent it.
