Greetings from Eden Tree Limited to you all!
At Eden Tree, we have a huge responsibility to safeguard and boost the diet of people living in Ghana through the supply of fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs to the national market. As a result, quality and safety are fundamental to everything we do.
With GhanaVeg’s grant support, we are working on a project aimed at improved extension services and market linkages with 55 out-growers. Through training, capacity strengthening, service provision, we are assisting these farmers to professionalize their operations and increase yields to ensure continued supply of produce to the high-end retail market. We plan to increase the number of out-growers to 115 by the end of the project.
It can be sometimes challenging to get produce that meet all our quality and safety standards. Gladly, (MoFA) with GhanaVeg sharing our responsibility of ensuring quality and healthy produce; we are tapping into the Green Label initiative which is by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, funded by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and supported by Ghanaveg to ensure our farmers are certified. So far, about 40 of our out-growers have been trained and are ready to be certified.
I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation to all stakeholders of this initiative, for the good work done and I know this will be beneficial not only to the actors in the food value chain but the Ghanaian society as a whole.
This is a change worth supporting. Ayeekooo!
Sincerely,
Catherine Krobo Edusei
