Mango export campaign has started in Côte d’Ivoire to cement pricing for produce at farm gate, packhouses, and transport as well as agree on the Exported variety when the window for Export to the EU and neighbouring countries is opened. This started on April 8, 2019.
This campaign was led by the Regional Prefect in Korhogo, Mr. Daouda Ouattara who gave out the information to stakeholders in the Mango value chain on April 5.
The main objectives of this Mango campaign is to improve the quality of exported mangoes, standard pricing systems along the value chain, determine export variety as well as maintain consumer trust to avoid suspension from the European Union.
This year mango price are lower compare to last year. Produce are sold at CFA 92/ kg at farm gate for high quality mango as compared to CFA 100 /kg last year. In Ivory Coast, Mango ranks as the 3rd exported fruit after banana and pineapple. It accounts for 80% of non-traditional export crops. In international markets, Côte d’Ivoire is the third largest supplier of mangoes, after Brazil and Peru
