Youth Inclusiveness, Employment and Empowerment

Introduction

HortiFresh’s motto is: “Healthy and quality fruits and vegetables through new ways of doing business”. The goal of HortiFresh is to develop: “A sustainable and internationally competitive fruit and vegetable sector that contributes to inclusive economic growth, food and nutrition security”.

This HortiFresh Youth fund is tailored to support young women and men to gain employment through sustainable jobs, training and skills-development opportunities or establishing and growing their own enterprises, within the horticulture sector in Ghana

The Fund supports a number of business ideas that promote youth inclusiveness, employment, and empowerment in the fruit and vegetable sector. The Youth Fund aims at mobilizing ideas and investments to increase the involvement of the youth in the sector.

Established companies, start-ups or consortia of companies can apply for grant funding to implement projects of total budgets between €10,000 and €40,000. HortiFresh will provide co-funding support of up to 80% and the remaining amount provided by the company either in cash, in kind or both.

This Call for Concept Notes specifically solicits for projects that aim at implementing business activities within the input / ICT agronomic advisory nexus, production, processing/value addition and marketing of fruits and vegetables either for local or export markets. For example:
