A Youth Roundtable meeting has been organised to discuss available youth employment funding opportunities within the HortiFresh program and the criteria in accessing the fund.
The meeting took place in Accra to soft launch the Call for Concept note which has been published on https://www.hortifresh.org/concept-notes/. The Youth fund is tailored to support young women and men to gain employment through sustainable jobs, training and skills-development opportunities or establishing and growing their own enterprises, within the horticulture sector in Ghana.
The fund manager of HortiFresh, Mr. Hanson Arthur said, for the horticulture value chain to thrive, there is the need for “inclusive and sustainable growth of the sector which gives opportunities to young women and men with innovative business ideas, to thrive.” He said, Agriculture should be seen as a viable venture for the youth and as part of HortiFresh’s activities, we have a fund component that targets youth who are in the sector or want to venture into the production of fruits and vegetables. “One thing is key in accessing this call; your concept note should be business-driven and sustainable” he added.
The meeting took place at the African Regent Hotel on Wednesday March 20, 2019 with about 85 youths and businesses.
